臺大醫院與葛蘭素史克大藥廠合作設立臨床研發中心

生物科技及製藥工業是21世紀的明星產業，與一般高科技產業不同-
除了創新發明，新藥上市前常需經多年嚴謹的臨床試驗。高水準之臨床試驗研究除可加速新藥上市，更可爭取到病人使用新藥治療其疾病的機會，所以臨床試驗研究是研發新藥及新生技產品最昂貴及關鍵的一環。台大醫院「國家級卓越臨床試驗與研究中心」以世界一流的臨床研究水準與成果，吸引國際大藥廠GSK公司選擇與本院合作，在臺灣設立NTUH-GSK臨床研發中心。
為推動臺灣生技產業的發展，試驗研發中心為必備的技術平台，行政院「加強生物技術產業推動方案」目標之ㄧ即為「建構亞洲區域臨床試驗中心」。故衛生署在民國94年委託台大醫院建立『國家級卓越臨床試驗與研究中心』。
台大醫院擁有世界一流的臨床研究水準與成果，並通過多次國際臨床試驗稽核之認定，且在亞洲及世界各國之競爭下脫穎而出，吸引了國際大藥廠GSK公司選擇與本院合作建立臨床研發中心。此中心之成立證實台灣具有卓越臨床試驗基礎建設及研究團隊，足以架構台灣為國際級卓越臨床試驗研發中心。

【說明】葛蘭素史克藥廠(GSK)是全球第三大藥廠。葛蘭素史克藥廠在呼吸科用藥，抗病毒用藥，神經科用藥及糖尿病用藥位居翹楚。另外在疫苗的研發及製造上更是成效卓越。

unique feature in that after a drug is discovered it must undergo years of rigorously controlled clinical trials before it is licensed
for use.

trials not only accelerate a new medication’s
“to-market” time but also offer opportunity for
doctors to gain precious clinical experience in new
treatment plus patients early access to life-saving
therapies. Therefore,
clinical trials are crucial to the research and
development of new medications and biotech products. Ranking
among the world’s leading clinical research
facilities,

Taiwan
University
Hospital
’s “National
Clinical Trial and Research Center (NCRC)” and leading multinational pharmaceutical and
biological company GlaxoSmithKline
(GSK) have collaborated to establish the
NTUH-GSK
Clinical
R&D
Center
.
To promote the biotechnology industry in
Taiwan
, a research and development center is a must-have
platform. In
light of this, one of the objectives of the Executive
Yuan’s Promotion Program for the Biotechnology Industry is to
establish
Taiwan
’s position as
Asia
’s premier clinical trial center. In
2005, the Department of Health (DOH) entrusted
National
Taiwan
University
Hospital
to create the “National
Clinical Trial and
Research
Center
.”
NTUH’s clinical research standards and
achievements have been accredited as world-class in a
number of international reviews and audits.
It was on this basis that GSK chose NTUH from
among different countries around Asia to collaborate in
the establishment of this important center; thus
demonstrating Taiwan’s capability to provide excellent
infrastructure and know-how for clinical trial research
and further consolidating Taiwan’s reputation as a
leading center for international pharmaceutical and
biotechnology research and development.
